As many of you know, every year we come together for our San Mateo Originals Community Picnic — a celebration of the historic North Central San Mateo community and the generations of families that built it.
What started as a reunion has grown into something much bigger.
This year, we’re working to make the 2026 picnic our biggest and most impactful yet. Our vision is to create a true community event that honors our roots while bringing people together through culture, family, wellness, and positive community engagement.
Some of the things we’re working on include:
⚾ A community softball game with local first responders
A Health & Wellness Village with community resources and screenings
Vendor Row featuring local and Black-owned businesses
Music, cultural storytelling, and family activities
Youth engagement and community-building activities
Opportunities to reconnect generations and preserve the legacy of North Central
As many of us know, rising costs have displaced so many families from the neighborhood over the years, but one thing that has never left is the love, pride, and connection we have for each other.
“Still Here. Still Family.”
In order to make this event possible, we’re asking the community for support. Donations will help cover:
• Park permits
• Equipment rentals
• Insurance
• Youth activities
• Sound & event setup
• Community programming
• General event expenses
No amount is too small. Whether you donate, volunteer, share the fundraiser, or simply show up — you are helping preserve something meaningful for the next generation.
We’re building this together.
