Help Make Holland’s Playground Accessible For Everyone

Donation protected

Step by step, Holland is helping her community build a playground where every child can play.

Meet Holland — a bright, determined little girl living with Cerebral Palsy who is inspiring her community to come together for a truly meaningful cause.

Holland’s school is planning to update its playground, and this project presents an incredible opportunity: to create a space where all children can play, laugh, and grow together — no barriers, no limitations.

Right now, the existing playground isn’t fully accessible, but with the help of family, friends, and the wider community, we can help ensure the new design includes features that allow Holland and every other child to participate equally and safely.

Walking for Change

On October 6th — World CP Day—
Holland proudly took part in a special fundraising walk. She set out from the corner of Nixon and Johnson Street, determined to reach Powell Beach using her walker. With courage in her heart and determination in every step, she didn’t just reach her goal — she went all the way there and back again.

Along the way, her family hosted a bake sale filled with cookies and cupcakes by donation — turning kindness, community spirit, and love into real action.

Walking Again on March 25

Holland will be walking again on March 25th at 4pm to continue raising money for the accessible playground.

This date is especially meaningful as March 25th is Cerebral Palsy Awareness Day and it also happens to be Holland’s birthday. Holland wanted to spend part of her special day helping move the playground project forward.

The walk will take place at the same location as the first walk, and there will once again be cookies and cupcakes available with a minimum donation of $5.

If you’re local, consider wearing green and coming out to cheer Holland on.

Community Support

This project has already received incredible support from the community.

A wonderful couple in Trout Creek even held their own fundraiser by selling walnuts from their yard, raising an amazing $1,565 for the project.

Local businesses have also stepped up. Maple Roch in Summerland donated $1 from every 500ml pouch of Maple Roch Pure Canadian Maple Syrup sold during December to help support the playground.

Thanks to the generosity of so many people, the project has already raised over $50,000 — halfway to the $100,000 goal.

It truly shows what a caring and supportive community this is.

Holland’s Goal

Funds raised will support the creation of an accessible, inclusive playground at Trout Creek Elementary — a place where children of all abilities can play side by side.

You can help by:

• Donating to this GoFundMe
• Sharing Holland’s story
• Coming out to support the March 25 walk
• Or simply cheering her on as she continues to inspire others through her determination and bright spirit

Every contribution helps move this project closer to becoming a reality.
