My name is Mahmoud Ziad Taha, and I speak from the heart of Gaza — a land that has known more pain than words can express.
We are a people persecuted on our own land, facing both the aggression of enemies and the neglect of those who should protect us. Each day brings a new struggle. We are displaced again and again, forced to flee from one place to another — from one neighborhood to the next — not seeking comfort, but simply trying to escape death.
Our homes, the places where our memories and dreams once lived, have been reduced to rubble. We’ve lost everything — our belongings, our sense of safety, even the certainty of tomorrow.
Yet, through all of this, what breaks our hearts most deeply is not our own suffering — it is the suffering of our children. What sin have they committed? What wrong have they done, other than being born on the land of Gaza? They deserve joy, laughter, and education — yet they wake up to hunger, fear, and the sound of destruction.
As a father, it is unbearable to watch your child ask for food when you have nothing to offer. Imagine not being able to provide them with lunch, or even clean water. These are not luxuries — they are the simplest needs of life.
No words can truly capture the depth of our suffering. You may see it on your television screens — the bombed-out homes, the tents, the tear-streaked faces of children — but behind every image is a story, a family, a soul struggling to survive another day.
Despite everything, we hold on to hope — hope that humanity still exists, that people across the world will see us not as statistics or headlines, but as fellow human beings deserving of dignity, safety, and compassion.
Your support, your voice, your generosity — these are not just acts of kindness; they are lifelines. They remind us that even in darkness, humanity still shines.
