Support Maha and Her Family Amid the Unbearable War in Gaza

Donation protected
Hello friends and supporters,

I am writing because I seek your kind support to help my sister Maha and her family, who are living in a desperate situation and enduring to impossible circumstances in the Gaza Strip.

Maha and her husband have a beautiful family. Together they have six wonderful daughters: two sets of twins, Mina and Miar (11 years old), and Goud and Goury (5 years old), as well as Ghazal (10 years) and Layla (1 year and 5 months) – the girls pictured below. Thank God they are all still alive, but they are never safe and they have lost everything.

Because of the violent assault on Gaza City and orders to leave the City, my sister, her husband, and her six children were forced to evacuate their home there. First they fled to Khany Younis and then to Rafah, searching for a safe place to stay. Over the last seven months, Maha and her husband have lost their home and their jobs, and struggle to stay alive. They have spent their savings to provide their family with basic needs like food, milk, and clean water.

Despite the chaos and violence around them, my nieces, Mina and Miar excel in poetry and English language. Their talent is a small beacon of hope in the darkness. Since early on in Israel’s assault on Gaza, Maha’s family has stayed in one of the UNRWA Schools in Rafah, having fled there with nothing but their IDs. Since the assault on Rafah in the last couple of weeks, Maha moved into a tent with her 6 young daughters without basic life necessities, such as cooking gas, water, food, electricity or proper sanitary products. The tent is very hot during the day and very cold at night. Now, they have to evacuate again to another place without any guarantee of safety. They have no idea where to go because nowhere is safe, and no place in the Gaza Strip has access to food, water, and medical care.

Now, we come to you asking for help. Here is the breakdown of the requested funds:
£10,000
£800 - will be for living costs every month to survive the life for nearly 10 months. This includes basic food and supply and renting a safe place.
The rest will be the website commission.

Maha, her daughters, and I – we believe in life, in teaching life, loving life, and preserving life. We ask for your help to honor life, and to be part of creating the change this world so desperately needs.

Here’s a bit more about Maha and her family:

Maha is the oldest sister in my family. Before Maha had her own children, she was the second mother to me. She was the inspiration and support for our successes. Maha, too, embodies success. She finished her undergraduate studies with distinction and completed her master’s in education development. She then began her career as a teacher before becoming an education manager at a university in the Gaza Strip.

Maha has always dreamed of having a big family. Today, with her supportive husband, she has six beautiful daughters. Here they are:

Ghazal and Layla

During the war, my sister and her husband lost their house in Gaza City. Just last year, they finished building their dream home – a nice big house with a small garden.

They hardly had time to enjoy their dream home before it was destroyed in Khan Yonis, 2023. Maha’s lovely guest room, a room she hoped to make special for all who came to say, was destroyed, along with the rest of the house. These are the last photos they received from their neighbours.

In the photo below, Ghazal is seeing her home for the first time since it was bombed. She is in disbelief, and incredibly sad at the damage. Before the assault on Gaza, Ghazal enjoyed playing at home, particularly in her bedroom. She is only ten years old – so young to grapple with the trauma she has been through, and to see her home destroyed as part of the ongoing assault on Gaza.
