Help Mae ,the little lioness, and her family

Whilst 2020 has been a difficult year for many, it has been a particularly agonizing one for the Leatherbarrow family in Launceston Tasmania. Danika & Shaun, along with their two beautiful little boys, Morrison (4) & Archie (3), eagerly anticipated the arrival of their baby girl in August, earlier this year. Mae was also eager to arrive & after an emergency caesarean, was delivered almost 4 weeks early. After an intense welcome to the world, our magical Mae was not out of the woods yet.
What followed in the next 24 hours was the discovery of a significant bleed in Mae's brain. After being rushed to the Royal Hobart Hospital, over the course of five weeks in the NICU, Mae underwent two surgeries. An incredibly distressing time for Danika & Shaun, this meant intermittently being away from their boys back in Launceston. Seeing them sporadically for a meal or bedtime when trusted family would transport them back to Hobart, staying in various home rentals close to the hospital.
Finally getting home safe & sound back to Launceston after such a strenuous start to life, Mae has recently had to be readmitted to the Royal Hobart after the wound site of her stent was compromised & she has had to undergo surgery to have it removed. Mae has most recently developed an infection & will need further care for the next few weeks before she can be strong enough to undergo a fourth surgery, implementing a new stent. The pressure and stresses placed on this young family have been immense; not least of all has been the financial strain placed upon them in travel, special requirements for Mae, house rentals, additional day care and general expenses that rack up when you’re away from home and living out of a suitcase.
Any donation would be greatly appreciated and will help this family in the coming weeks and months as they navigate what they pray will be the final hurdles for Mae and have them back home settling into being a family of five.
