Help Macchi School Students Experience Their First Movie!

Hi! My name is Tiffany Li and I am currently volunteering in rural Paraguay at a middle + high school called the Macchi School in Tobatí, Paraguay. My students are some of the brightest, sweetest, hardworking, and most eager-to-learn children I have ever met. To celebrate the end of their school year, they are trying to organize a field trip to Asunción, the capital city, to go to the movies and get McDonald's or Burger King. Most of my students are extremely economically challenged, so this experience would mean the world to them and would create an important memory for them that they would talk about for the rest of their lives.

At an assembly, we asked all 90 students to raise their hand if they had ever been to a movie theater, and only about 6 raised their hands. The only movie theaters nearby are located in the capital city, and most of my students have never had the opportunity to go there, even though it is only about 2 hours away. My students have been working hard hosting hamburger-making fundraisers and asking their community for donations, but have only raised a little less than $100. Please help me make this dream a reality for my students.

Cost breakdown (so you know where your money is going):

$5 per movie theater ticket * 90 students = $450

$5 per McDonald's/Burger King meal * 90 students = $450

It costs ~$850 to rent 3 buses for all the students

$450+450+850 = 1750
