Lynne's family would like to share that our mother, Barbara Hoffert, has passed away. Barbara, Dan and Lynne have been an inseparable unit since her birth. Dan passed in '09 which was very difficult for Lynne, but she still had Mom. In the summer of '18, Barb had her life insurance policy with Jackson Financial cancelled for not receiving 3 quarterly maintenance payments. We were not informed of this until recently when we inquired about the policy. One would think, or hope, that a policy safety net would be in place to protect the elderly in case their mental state becomes compromised to the point that they struggle with simple, everyday activities, like paying bills. Barb has documented diagnoses of dementia going back almost 10 years. Dan and Barb's wishes have always been for that policy to help Lynne when the time comes. Unfortunately, that time came on Aug 15th and as a result of Jackson's disclaimer, a 37+ year policy was closed and all funds were forfeited. Anyone that has been around Lynne knows to not underestimate her, especially on the dance floor or in any competitive event. Many of you know Lynne from her days at the high school where she was very popular and flourished because of all her friends and support she received. She was always smiling and greeted everyone with a high five. Lynne grew up surrounded by sports and went on to dominate her many events in Oregon Special Olympics, where she was inducted into the Hall of Fame several years ago. Whether she's hanging with her nieces and nephews watching pro wrestling or just reminiscing with family friends, if something cannot be remembered you will likely hear Lynne throw out the answer. One of her many gifts. Having a family member with Down Syndrome begins with fears and concerns. But that changed quickly. Lynne has taught us all the value of innocence and we wouldn't want her any other way! Thank you for taking the time to read this. All contributions will go to helping with Lynne's future needs and housing.
