Help Luna Mae Fight Cancer

Donation protected
My name is Megan, I have started this fundraiser to help support my brother's family while their daughter is treated for blood cancer.

On August 18th my three-year-old niece, Luna, was diagnosed with B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Leukemia is an aggressive blood cancer that is common in children. After diagnosis, she was immediately sent into surgery so a Portacath could be installed and she could begin chemotherapy. Luna was discharged after two weeks of intense treatment in the hospital and is now being treated outpatient. Since then, life has been a whirlwind of hospital visits and stays for their family.

Luna has to visit the clinic twice a week for blood checks and chemotherapy. She was unexpectedly hospitalized for common cold and spent 11 days inpatient. Their family will need to travel back and forth to the hospital this way for the next two and half years of Luna's treatment. The hospital is far from their home and they always face the possibility of having to stay overnight or longer.

Since Luna's diagnosis, she has under and still requires several rounds of chemotherapy/procedures/surgeries.

These include:
  • Multiple types of intravenous chemotherapies
  • Subcutaneous chemotherapy
  • Intrathecal chemotherapy (chemo injected into the spinal fluid)
  • Multiple bone-marrow biopsies
  • Blood and platelet transfusions
  • All kinds of pharmaceuticals for symptom management

Silas and Kiersten have three children all under the age of 5. Silas works full-time to support their family and also takes Luna to her appointments and inpatient stays. Kiersten watches their infant daughter and their son who are not supposed to be present for appointments; the oncology floor of the hospital is full of patients who deserve extremely careful and limited contact with others.

Luna's family is often separated from their friends and community because of the increased risk of harm that any sickness presents for Luna; also, their entire extended family lives in another state, so they have no family locally to support them.

We are all hopeful for Luna, but she faces a long journey. This is why I hope our community can come together to help support them. All money raised will go directly to their family, to support Luna.

We are so thankful for any love and support you send.

Please donate any amount and share this with others, both are greatly appreciated.

Thank you <3
