Help Luke Build Homes in Memory of Soren
Donation protected
Hi, My name is Luke Saracoglu.
I am traveling on my second trip to Nosara, Costa Rica. this time with my dad and other family members and friends of my late cousin Soren Wysockey-Johnson. As a group, we will be partnering with Mercy Homes Ministry to build two homes for housing-insecure families in Nosara in memory of Soren. Soren was a part of this mission trip and the work and community building meant a lot to him. My family is paying for our flight, lodging and meal costs and we are asking for your support in raising funds for the building costs for the two homes. The cost of materials to build a house there is approximately $9,000 each and our goal as a group is to fund both of these houses. My dad and I are raising funds for the construction costs by doing a humus making workshop and selling hummus, so if you have ever tried his humus, you know its good…and he’ll teach you step by step instructions and offer some refreshments and send you home with some. The day of the first workshop is May 19th from 1-3pm at our house and the cost is 30$ -- if you just want to purchase humus, we are selling for 10$ a healthy size container available on the 19th and a future date in June. Please email my mom to order hummus. We can deliver or you can pick up the date of the workshop or a later June date.

Why Costa Rica?
Soren participated in this trip just months before he died in 2020. In addition to providing a healing opportunity to be surrounded by others who love and miss Soren, we will be able to connect with both the local people he worked alongside and Soren by sharing an experience that was so important to him.
Why Mercy Home Ministries?
Mercy Home Ministries works to empower families in need by providing them with new housing, improving their quality of life. To date, they have built 220 homes (10 with Soren’s family and friends!) and have a long waitlist of those in need. They provide local coordination, skilled labor, and general project oversight.
How much does it cost?
Our family will pay for flight, lodging, and meal expenses. The money being raised here will go directly to the building materials fund. The cost of building two homes is $18,000.
Let that sink in for a minute… $18,000 will build TWO houses!
So, while this sounds like a big number (Note: we aren’t doing it alone, this is the group’s fundraising goal), it kind of feels small when you consider the life-changing impact it will have on the two families who get to move into them.
How can you provide support?
Please consider making a donation to the building materials fund. All donations will go directly towards paying for the materials associated with the two houses we will be building. Donations of any amount make a difference! THANK YOU!
