Help Luis come home for the holidays!
Donation protected
Dear community and friends,
This afternoon (12/20/2019), an Immigration Judge granted Luis a bond of $5,000. However, Luis was the breadwinner of his family and his wife is currently unemployed so she doesn't have the means to pay his bond. Please consider making a donation to Luis' fundraiser so we can help him be back home in time for these holidays! Every dollar raised will be transferred directly to Tayde Rosas, Luis' wife, and will be used to pay Luis' bond, travel expenses from Mesa Verde (Bakersfield) to Gilroy, and any other immediate needs such as food.
If you are unable to donate, don't worry, help us spread the word and share this GFM with your networks.
On behalf of Luis and his family, thanks for your unconditional support and we wish you Happy Holidays!
Best,
Team #FreeLuis

Who is Luis?
Luis Ponciano Cruz Garcia is a 34-year-old father, husband, and faithful church-goer. He has lived in Gilroy, CA for over 12 years, where he is a farmworker in the grape fields. He has four US citizen children. The youngest, Gael, is just 1 month old.
At the end of the grape harvest in 2018, Luis celebrated with his coworkers for all of their hard work. He made a bad decision and drove home, and he was arrested for a DUI. Luis completed probation and attended all of his required rehabilitative classes. He decided to give up alcohol completely and focus on being a great father.
In November 2019, just days before his son Gael was born, ICE showed up to Luis’ house. When Luis demanded that ICE show him a warrant, ICE retaliated and physically assaulted him, causing injuries to his head, cheek, and shoulder. ICE arrested Luis and took him into custody at Mesa Verde Detention Facility, a private prison operated by The GEO Group, Inc.
Luis has not even met his newborn son because of ICE’s barbaric and retaliatory actions. Luis cannot bear to be detained and separated from his family any longer. An immigration judge ordered a bond hearing for Luis on Tuesday, December 17 at 1PM at 630 Sansome in San Francisco, which was then continued to Friday, December 20, 2019.
