Early on the morning of October 31st, a massive fire broke out in Birmingham’s Southside neighborhood, burning for more than 12 hours. It destroyed the apartment where sisters Lucy and Saraelizabeth lived with their best friend, Lauren.
We are so grateful they are all physically okay, and that is what matters most. Sadly, their apartment and nearly all of their belongings were lost to the fire, smoke, and water damage. The city has not yet allowed anyone back inside, and firefighters have advised residents to begin replacing what they can, as the building is likely unsafe to return to.
The girls evacuated with only the clothes on their backs and what they could carry. Because Lucy and Saraelizabeth are sisters and shared a home, this loss is doubled.
We’re raising funds to help them all find a new place to live and replace essentials as they begin to rebuild. Any contribution will make a meaningful difference. If you’re unable to give, please keep them in your prayers and share this page to help spread the word.
Thank you for your support during such a difficult time. We’re so grateful for your kindness and generosity.
