Help Lori fix her wheels!

Hi! My name is Michele & I'm Lori's sister. Over 20 years ago my sister was diagnosed with Transverse Myelitis with Lymes Disease. This disease paralyzed her from the waist down. At 23 years of age...she felt like she lost everything! With the help of our family & friends, she overcame huge obstacles. Overcoming obstacles is an understatement. She learned how to drive using hand controls, got married & had a baby...who is now cruising into her teenage years. However, she never gave up on the hope of walking one day. Lori's quite the fighter!

But then....during Covid, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Did she give up??? NOOO! We were taught that when you are presented with a challenge, you face it head on & fight. That's pretty much what she has done through half of her life...but now a new challenge presents itself. She called me crying the other night because her van, which is adapted for her, is on its way out. The underside is rusted & her door no longer opens correctly. If the door doesn't open & the ramp doesn't come out then she is stuck. She needs a new van but the price for a used one is way out of her range because not only does she need to buy the van it has to be adapted to her. The price of the van & the adaptation cost the same amount. It's unaffordable for her but between her wheelchair & her van...that's her legs. That's how she gets around. Nobody knows why these things happen, but I want to try to help her in any way that I can. We know that it takes a village to help and have seen it first hand.
