Help Lorenzo Build a Future After 12 Years Lost

Hey, my name is Lorenzo Conner. I was born and raised in New Orleans. I must say it’s a blessing that I’m even a free man.
Back in October of 2011, I was wrongfully arrested for second-degree murder. I was booked with the murder weapon that did not have either my fingerprints or my DNA on it.
Gunshot residue test performed... Negative! Yet still, I was held against my will and persecuted.
Being locked behind bars for years with the dreaded prospect of facing life in prison in Angola and never being able to physically be in my daughter’s life... It’s soul-crushing! As a result, there were some bad days in there.
Facing that real possibility day in and day out does something to a person’s mindset. It didn’t help that many guards would go out of their way to mess over an inmate and make our stay as miserable as possible.
For a stretch, I would rebel against that type of behavior. As a result, I had numerous rebookings.
On April 17th, 2019, I was acquitted of that second-degree murder, along with the convicted felon in possession of a firearm and obstruction of justice.
Ultimately, I would end up having to do more time due to those jailhouse rebookings (mainly battery on correctional officers).
I did twelve years in total. I was released in July of 2023.
Since I’ve been free, I’ve been here for my daughter every step of the way. I’ve obtained my CDL class A license and have all of my endorsements.
(I accomplished all of that while sleeping in my car and washing up in Starbucks bathroom. For my last four and a half years in prison, I would save everything people would send me for commissary. Came home and purchased a vehicle with those funds.)
Can you believe that after finally being awarded the grant money so that I could be able to attend truck driving school, going to truck driving school without missing a day, learning the skill set that was being taught to me, taking my CDL test and passing on my first try, that no trucking company will hire me? Neither can I.
So here I am. My goal is to raise enough capital so that I can purchase my own truck and start my own business. Be able to provide for my daughter and myself. And actually be able to live instead of just existing...
Whatever amount you will be able to contribute, whether large or small, will be greatly appreciated...
Sincerely,
Lorenzo Conner
