Originally from El Salvador and Honduras, Lorena and Edwin both came to the United States two decades ago to begin new lives. Since meeting here in the United States, they grew a family—supporting each other and their three children, now 5, 9, and 19 years old. On July 13, 2026, their lives were completely upended when Edwin was abducted by ICE at a gas station near their apartment. This unified and loving family is absolutely devastated.

Lorena describes that the family does everything together. On weekends when she and Edwin were not working, they would take the children to the park, maybe go out to eat, and attend Mass together on Sunday at the Catholic Church where they are active members of the community. They are not accustomed to being separated. Their youngest child doesn't fully understand what happened to his papá, and the nine-year-old is completely traumatized. She can't sleep, cries for her father all the time, and is afraid of being taken herself.

Beyond the emotional toll this has taken on the family, their most immediate concerns are financial. Lorena works regularly as a restaurant cook, but it is not enough to support her family. On top of rent, utilities, and food, Lorena also needs to pay a lawyer who is helping with their case to remain here in the United States. In the immediate future, Edwin will likely be deported, meaning extended separation from the family. To continue their fight to be together again, this family needs our solidarity.

Please donate what you can and share this GoFundMe widely. The money you give will help the family pay their rent, basic living expenses, and legal fees as they navigate this incredibly difficult time.
