Let me introduce you to Lola.
Lola is a trapped in Nigeria, a violently homophobic and transphobic country. As a trans woman, Lola's safety is at risk every single day, but society's bigotry against queer people means that finding things like stable housing, a job, and even food are extremely difficult. After being outed, Lola was forced to drop out of school. Since then, she has been battling homelessness and struggling with her mental health for years. Lola has faced direct physical violence due to transphobia and is now trying to flee Nigeria because the bigotry is only getting worse. Her life is at risk.
Lola's dream is to go to school in Germany. After months of trying, she was finally able to get a passport with the help of numerous generous donors. The next steps are an English exam, applications, savings, and a flight out of Nigeria. Before she can do that, though, she needs the basics like stable housing, food, and medicine (e.g. HRT and regular medication because she gets sick often). Without these things, Lola's chances of fleeing are thin.
Your contribution can provide Lola with a stable, secure home where she can live freely as her true self. She wants to start a new chapter in Germany, and you can help her do that. If you can't contribute monetarily, Lola and I humbly request that you share her GoFundMe.
Black trans people deserve to thrive and live vibrant, fulfilling lives. Join in to make this a possibility for Lola.
