Please join us in supporting Lois, Mukunda and their two beautiful girls — to create precious memories together, and to ease the road ahead.
Lois recently underwent two major brain surgeries after a lesion was discovered in her frontal lobe — the first in emergency conditions, and the second to remove as much of the remaining growth as safely possible. It was found to be a malignant grade 4 astrocytoma, a very aggressive form of brain cancer.
While the neurosurgeons are pleased with how the operation went, they have explained that this type of cancer cannot currently be cured — only slowed with treatment. Six weeks of intensive radiation and chemotherapy are scheduled to begin on April 28th.

How This Campaign Has Grown
Initially, the goal of this campaign was to raise money to help pay for a much-needed holiday — a chance for Lois, Mukunda and their daughters to rest, connect, and make memories together before treatment begins.
That target was reached in a matter of hours.
Since then, the overwhelming support and messages from the community have been clear: people want to help not just with this special trip, but also with the difficult journey that lies ahead. And so, we’ve expanded our goal.
What Your Donations Will Support
The community has contributed $5,000 that will go towards a last minute 9 day tip to Far North Queensland before treatment commences. These funds will cover:
- Flights and transport
- Comfortable, accessible accommodation
- Food and family activities (like snorkeling and a glass-bottom boat tour!)
- Gentle, soul-nourishing experiences
We are now aiming to raise an additional $10,000 to support Lois and her family through the incredibly challenging time that lies ahead. Once they return from their holiday, Lois will begin six weeks of intensive radiation and chemotherapy, requiring travel to hospital 5 days a week. After this initial treatment phase, a rest period will follow before further rounds of at-home chemotherapy. These funds will be used for things such as:
- Hospital car parking fees
- Petrol and travel costs
- Any out-of-pocket medical expenses
- Comfort and recovery Items
- Possible extra childcare costs
- Meals, snacks and food delivery
- House cleaning or domestic help
- Low-key outings or short day trips to break up the long treatment period
- Creative and meaningful memory-making with the kids
- A second holiday or weekend retreat (post-treatment if energy allows)
- Celebration of milestones, like finishing radiation & birthdays
There truly isn’t a family more deserving than Lois and Mukunda. They’ve given so much love and light to those around them — now it’s our turn to give back. Going through a medical journey as significant as this, while also nurturing and caring for two young daughters, will be challenging — the funds raised will help ease their load and provide vital support as they navigate this time together.
A note on Lois’s prognosis
According to the oncologists and medical team, this cancer is terminal with an average life expectancy of less than two years. While Lois and her family are incredibly grateful for the care Lois has received, they choose not to accept this prognosis as a fixed reality. The medical system operates on statistics — but Lois, Mukunda, and all of us who love them are holding strong to the belief that they can be the exception. We invite you to join us in that faith and hope.
Thank you — from the bottom of our hearts — for joining us in supporting Lois and Muk.
