Help local drag king in financial need

I'm organizing this fundraiser on behalf of a community member and friend who is in great financial distress, and at risk of losing their housing.

Dear community,

I need you!

As I write this I have tears in my eyes.

I find this extremely difficult to ask for help, but I need your help!

A year and a half ago I didn’t want to live. I came very close to ending my life. My brother saved me! If he didn’t pick up the phone on that day, when I was struggling immensely, I wouldn’t be here today. I am incredibly grateful to him.

Recovering from that day has proven so much harder than I anticipated. Not long afterwards, I was sexually assaulted. It was sadly not the first time. I was already struggling with work/housing/sobriety/health, and these recent experiences have left me feeling isolated and hopeless.

In this moment what I need most critically is financial assistance, so I can maintain stable housing until finding a new job and getting back on my feet.

I have always tried to give back to my community, and I find it incredibly hard to ask for help. It scares me to be this vulnerable and share these struggles so publicly.

I have a backlog of bills I need to pay before the end of February, or I’ll risk losing my housing.

I am tired and I have tried so hard to keep myself above water over and over again. However I can no longer do it right now.

As a queer, Latinx person of colour, I’m humbly asking for your support!

I need $2,500 to cover living expenses, for the next month and two to keep me afloat as I look for odd jobs for the time being.

I recently got hired by an AIRLINE but the position doesn’t start for a few months.
