Nearly one in three households in San Luis Obispo County struggles to afford basic necessities, even as many adults are working. The challenge is not simply poverty—it is the growing gap between the cost of living and what families earn. (Statistic: United Way of SLO County)
For families facing financial hardship, there may be little left for a child's medical or dental care, school supplies, summer camp, sports, music, or other enriching experiences that make childhood special.
That's where Central Coast Funds for Children (CCFC) comes in!
Who We Are and How We Help
Central Coast Funds for Children is a volunteer-run nonprofit in San Luis Obispo County that raises and distributes funds to help children in need through local nonprofit agencies.
Our mission is to help bridge the gap for children whose families are struggling financially. We believe every child deserves more than the bare necessities. Children also deserve opportunities to discover their talents, build friendships, develop confidence, and experience the joy of being a kid.
Through grants to local nonprofit agencies, CCFC helps children access essential support and enriching experiences they might otherwise miss.

In 2025, thanks to generous donors and our fundraising efforts, CCFC awarded $112,000 in grants to 42 local agencies and organizations!
These grants support programs throughout San Luis Obispo County that help children in need access:
- Basic necessities: Food, clothing, and school supplies.
- Health and well-being: Medical and dental care, therapy, and guidance counseling.
- Outdoor adventures: Camp experiences that build confidence, independence, and friendships.
- Sports and recreation: Opportunities to develop teamwork, healthy habits, and a sense of belonging.
- The arts and enrichment: Music, theatre, art, and other activities that inspire creativity and help children discover their talents.
