On October 21, LM was detained by ICE. He is the heart of his family and their primary source of financial support. His sudden detention has left his wife, stepdaughters, and three young grandchildren struggling to get by.
Just recently, the family moved from Washington, DC to Mount Rainier hoping to escape the increased immigration enforcement in the city. Instead of finding safety, they experienced another devastating loss. Only a month before LM was taken, their uncle who lived with them was also detained and deported. Now, LM’s stepdaughters Sara and Ingrid are doing everything they can to keep the household together. Sara cares for a four year old. Ingrid is raising an eight year old and a five year old. These boys adore their grandfather and miss him deeply.
This family is fighting to stay together and survive while navigating fear, uncertainty, and financial hardship.
