Our beloved friend Liz has endured more than anyone should be asked to bear. In just the past few days, her world has been shaken by the sudden and tragic loss of a close friend, who unfortunately took his life at her apartment complex. She gave him shelter, care, and dignity in his final months, when others couldn’t. Now she is left trying to piece herself back together in the same space where that heartbreak unfolded.

On top of this, Liz’s father has terminal cancer. She’s preparing to leave her difficult home and travel across the country to be with him. But she’s not leaving a place of stability - she’s leaving a slum apartment after this terror with mounting debt, the pain of just having lost both of her longtime companion cats, and the impossible decision to put groceries on credit cards just to pay rent for her constantly-flooded rooms. She’s been searching for work for over a year. Through it all, she’s never once asked for help.
