Hi friends.

My Friend and chosen family, Liz, needs a wheelchair. She has been in the same rest home as my mum for two and a half years now and has not been outside for this entire time. The rest home provides wheelchairs for the average-sized person, but will not accommodate her needs.

She has family who visit, but they do not see the importance of a simple tool, which is a wheelchair that will give her the freedom to move out of the confines of her room and the chair that she has been in for far too long.

Liz is a strong woman, but she simply wants to get outside. Enjoy the sunlight. Interact with people and have a sense of normality and gain some freedom, so that is why I'm turning to you all.

Most of us are blessed with the privilege of being able to leave our room, our house, our suburb, our city. Liz, at this point, is not, and all she wants to do is wheel herself outside. That, my friends, is where you step in.

I have set a modest goal of $1,000, as that is the baseline for a chair that will accommodate her. However, if we can raise more, we can get a better chair that will better suit her needs and gett the accessories such as pressure cushions and extra support that will make her journey to independence all the more enjoyable.

I'm not asking for much, but anything you can give would be appreciated.
