My name is Lisa Plett. I am raising money to help my mom pay for any medical expenses, transportation to and from her appointments, and anything else that she may need. Back in February 2025, they found a nodule in her left lower lobe and right upper lobe. They determined the nodule in her left lower lobe was cancer and planned to have surgery on May 13th, 2025. The week before her surgery, they realized during a scan that the nodule in her right lobe had grown and postponed her surgery. On May 15th, my mom ended up in the hospital at the University of Iowa where she spent 4 days before getting sent home due to having a stroke and had multiple scans and tests done. Two days later, she was feeling shortness of breath, got her chest X-ray and labs done, and found out her whole left lung was filled with fluid. She was rushed back up to the University of Iowa where she spent another 4 days. During that time, we found out from one of her scans that her cancer had spread to over 30% of her body and she was then diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer. The doctor explained to us that the treatments at this point would not cure her but just help us extend the amount of time that we have left with her.
