My name is Lisa Casimie, and I’m asking for help with something deeply important to me, taking the next step toward my green card and securing my future here in the United States.

I’ve been in the U.S. for 10 years, starting as an international student-athlete with hope, determination, and a vision for the life I wanted to build. I spent six years in school, worked hard, and earned two degrees. After graduation, I transitioned into my career and have now been working in higher education for four years, supporting student-athletes and international students every day.

Over this decade, America has become my home, the place where I’ve grown, found my purpose, built my career, and formed relationships that mean so much to me.

Because I know firsthand what it feels like to be far from home, I’ve dedicated my career to helping other international students and student-athletes navigate school, life, and the challenges that come with both. This work is deeply personal to me; it’s not just what I do, it’s who I am.

Now, as I prepare to begin the permanent residency process, I’m facing a financial burden that feels overwhelming. Attorney fees, USCIS filing fees, documentation, and processing costs can total more than $10,000. As much as I’ve tried to prepare for this step, I simply can’t cover all of these expenses on my own.
