I am the Founder and CEO of Veterans With Pets a 501c3 Non-Profit. Our organization was recently contacted by a VFW Veteran Service Offer asking if we could assist in Helping Lisa replace her service animal as hers has reached the age that it can no longer serve and meet her needs. The pictures on profile are that of her retiring service animal and hopefully what will be her new service animal. Although we do not provide trained service animals as part of our mission at this time, I immediately offered assistance in raising donations to meet this need! I have a letter from Lisa that I have copied word for word explaining her story and it's my hope it touches your heart, as it did mine, and together we can help One of our Beloved Veterans in a time of need! All donations will be directed to Veterans With Pets. You can also visit vwpets.org and donate directly with a note to be for Lisa's cause!
Lisa's personal Testimony:

My fight for Independence-Help me Get a Service Dog

Hello, my name is Lisa Wilson, and I'm a U.S. Veteran. Before my life changed, I worked as a registered nurse caring for others, but everything shifted after a Traumatic Brain Injury I sustained in a serious car accident. Since then, I've been living with life altering physical and neurological challenges, and I now use a wheelchair every day.
The accident forced me to step away from nursing - a career I loved. But I still have the desire to serve. I began volunteering with the DAV, helping Veterans access the benefits and care they earned. That volunteer work eventually turned into my current job as a Veteran Service officer - a role that gives me purpose and allows me to give back to those who have also served.
But now...I find MYSELF needing help.
TO continue living independently and safely - and to keep doing the job i love - I need a specially trained service dog. This dog will help me with vital daily tasks like:
  • Assisting should I fall
  • Picking up items I drop
  • Pulling my wheelchair when it's not charged
  • Providing Physical and Emotional Support
The cost to purchase and train a qualified service dog is not covered by the VA or Insurance. Without this assistance, I risk not only losing my independence, but also the ability to keep working and supporting other Veterans.
I never thought i would be on this side of the table - asking for help. But I'm reaching out because I truly need this dog to live safely and to continue serving others. If you can donate, share my story, or send words of encouragement, it would mean more than I could express.

Thank you for supporting me on this journey.
With deep gratitude,
Lisa Wilson
