Help Lisa Help Orphans & Refugees

Hello, my name is Lisa Thompson from Seattle WA, and like many of you, I have been looking for a way to help the innocent children and families affected by the horrific war in Ukraine.  
I have connected with Hope Now Ministries, which has been helping orphans in central Ukraine for 18 years. There is an urgent need for volunteers to transport a warehouse full of medications, clothing, and other needed items from the USA to Romania. 

With your help, I can ship or fly  these items into Romania and also work at an orphanage where many children have been relocated. 


To start, I'll be meeting the daughter of Director Cyndee Knight of Hope Now Ministries with four giant duffle bags of donations to add to her own load of donations. We will rent a van and literally drive across Romania up to the town of lasi. Once in Romania, we will organize and bundle up the donations to be taken by another team of volunteers who will move these precious donations into the neediest areas of Ukraine – many of which have no food stores left to shop. I will NOT cross the border. 


The process of distributing a warehouse full of food and medicines will take about a week.

After that, I will head to the orphanage, now located in Romania (since the war started), where I will lend my skills to do a cooking lesson, a lesson in prayer/meditation, a lesson in English, and hopefully set the children up with gratitude journals.


*EDIT: April 20th : Unfortunately the Poland part of the trip is now canceled due to overwhelming number of volunteers in Warsaw. The American School of Warsaw no longer needs chefs or drivers. The good news is there are many people helping the refugees in and around Warsaw.

For the remainder of my time, I will fly up to Warsaw where a chef friend @Dave Amar is working right now cooking for refugees. He is affiliated with The American School

Of Warsaw. 
As a trained chef, I will help him in the kitchen and assist in transporting refugees arriving by train. We will be renting a car and making daily trips to customs, transporting people to Warsaw, and picking up weary refugees escaping from parts of Ukrain and heading to Warsaw. 


You might be asking at this point, why? 
Well, my people and my heritage are from the Ukraine/ Poland. It seems my ancestors are calling me to do this. 
And yes, I feel the love & strength of God calling me to do this. In this overwhelming period of pain, despair, and the evilness of war, HOPE can prevail. Love must prevail. 
It would be my privilege to tell these displaced children and families that America loves them – that we are praying for them and we want to help.


While this trip is not without risks, I am confident in the people I am working with and the accommodations set in place.

Specifically, I am looking for assistance purchasing medical supplies, covering a portion of my plane tickets and simple accommodations for my 2 week journey. Your donation would also help with the costs of supplies transportation, and the purchase of additional medical and food & day camp supplies for the orphanage .
