Help Lindsey with expenses due to Brain Tumor
Hello, my name is Brooke and I am setting up this fund for a young girl in our church who was recently diagnosed with a brain tumor. Here is a quick summary from her father:
****************************************************************************************
Lindsey Schall was previously a healthy straight “A” student, who was a non-smoker and a non-drinker.
What began as a pain in the neck ended with the discovery of a cancerous brain tumor.
July -treated for pain in her neck by a chiropractor.
July 23 trip to the ER, treated for a migraine.
July 25 trip to the ER, treated for a urinary track infection.
July 26 treated by family Doctor who recommended bloodwork and x-rays which all come back negative.
However when Lindsey would stand up she would vomit
July 27 trip to the ER, Dr. had a CAT scan done, and the doctor said the words that no parent would ever want to hear, he said “ there is only one way to tell you this, your daughter has a brain tumor”.
Since the tumor was not allowing the flow of fluid back from the brain Lindsey was immediately life flighted to Presbyterian hospital where a shunt was put in her skull to relieve brain fluid that the tumor had blocked the return. This ultimately saved her life, for now.
Surgery was to be performed the next day. I, Lindsey’s father, received a phone call from the neurosurgeon with other words that no parent would want to hear “how quick can you be here to see your daughter before she goes into surgery, we’re going to operate immediately?”
The cancerous brain tumor, Medulloblastoma was removed.
Before surgery and since as of August 29 Lindsey has vomited (emesis) EVERY DAY for the last 40 days.
And Lindsey has been continuously nauseous every day for the last 55 days.
**********************************************************************************
Had they waited one more day, Lindsey would no longer be with us. She is now in for the fight of her life. She and her self-employed father will be traveling to Philadelphia on Sept 8 to start treatments at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital and have radiation treatments from Sept 9-Oct 20. During this time, her father will be staying with her and out of work, plus the cost of fuel, food, and lodging while there.
Lindsey should be completing her final year of her Bachelor's degree and instead is fighting for her life. She is in constant pain, on medication to help with the pain, continuously sick, and unable to do the things a normal 23 yr old should be doing. All her beautiful curly hair has been cut off leaving her with short hair due to the treatments.
(Her father Eric is a great man of faith, preaching at his church, and praying with others and their families while still holding strong for Lindsey. He is the first person to give someone the shirt off his back or the last dollar in his pocket. )
Please help this family so that expenses are one less thing they have to worry about and can concentrate on getting Lindsey stable and back to health.
God Bless
