Hello everyone!

I’d like to introduce you to my friend Linda. Over the years, she has faced one challenge after another, only to pivot and move forward. She refuses to burden others with her difficulties, which is why I’m reaching out now. It’s time we rally together to support her.

But first, some good news…

Linda’s home in Logan Square is her sanctuary. She’s lived there independently for over 25 years—despite becoming paralyzed by a car accident only 6 months after moving in. Inside, she has an elevator—a lifeline that allows her to move freely within her own space. This and other essential modifications allowed her to remain in her home, with her dog, as she’d planned before getting injured.

And then, some new challenges:

As if adjusting to paraplegia in life, work (and architecture) wasn’t enough, more unfortunate pivots were on her horizon. Over the past 10 years, Linda has been a 2 time survivor of breast cancer and is currently trying to create a(nother) life/career workaround with crippling RA. As you can imagine, these developments can make for a daunting day-in-the-life for someone in a wheelchair.

Unfortunately, winter is coming…

For the bulk of this year, her outdoor platform lift has been broken. This is her only safe and reliable method of leaving the house, no matter the season. Despite several attempts at repair, it keeps failing. Linda urgently needs a new lift before the winter weather becomes an insurmountable obstacle. Helping to fund this improvement could be a life-changer for her. Cost: $20k
