Help Lily Fight Feline Diabetes

UPDATE:

Lily was discharged from AESC today (7/7) with a favorable prognosis. She is in good spirits and is very happy to be home. There is still a little ways to go for her health, with additional bloodwork and and glucose rechecks, but we are resolved to give her the best life.

There is no price I would not pay to keep my cats safe and healthy, but her emergency care has cost now exceeded $8800, not counting the initial urgent care visit that resulted in referral to emergency. The donations already received are a HUGE help, and I cannot adequately express the gratitude, especially for people who've never met this sweet girl. Please continue to share. On July 1, my 9 year old cat Lily was diagnosed with feline diabetes and placed on Senvelgo, an oral daily medication. By Thursday, after just 3 doses, she had entered euglycemic diabetic ketoacidosis. Because of the nature of medications like Senvelgo when they trigger events like this, she has been under 24-hour care at the Animal Emergency and Specialty Center in south Reno since Friday morning. This care is devastatingly expensive but I refuse to not do everything I can for this girl, who has been my companion for nearly 10 years. As of 7/6, the cost of her stay has exceeded $5000.

She is not improving as we had hoped and is not yet out of the woods, still requiring electrolytes and IV fast-acting insulin. We are still hopeful for her prognosis, but best case now is she will require daily insulin injections and routine monitoring for the rest of her life.

It is with much reticence I reach out in this manner. But we would be incredibly grateful for any support for this girl's recovery.
