We are reaching out to you today to ask for your support for Liana, a devoted mother who is about to undergo a critical kidney transplant due to a long battle with lupus. Not only is Liana facing a life-changing surgery, but they also care for Loki, a wonderful child who has autism and requires consistent care and attention.
Liana's Journey with Lupus Kidney Disease:
For the past eight years Liana has fought lupus, a chronic painful autoimmune disease that has slowly attacked her organs, including her kidneys. Despite Liana’s bravery and strength in the face of constant challenges, the time has now come for her to undergo a kidney transplant. This life-saving procedure will require an extensive recovery period, during which they will need help managing their health, finances, and family responsibilities.
Balancing a Family with Autism:
In addition to Liana's own health challenges, she is also the primary caregiver for her child, Loki, who is living with autism and ADHD. As a parent, Liana has always been dedicated to providing the best care and support for Loki, ensuring he has the resources, therapies, and stability he needs to thrive. The added stress of a major surgery and recovery period, paired with the ongoing needs of Loki, is overwhelming, and that's where we hope you can help.
What We Need:
Although the surgery should mostly be covered by medicare there are many costs that go beyond the surgery itself. From hospital bills, medical treatments, and medications to home care for both Liana and Loki, we want to ensure that Liana can focus on healing and taking care of her family without the constant worry about finances.
Your donation will help cover:
- $3,000 – Post-surgery medications & health costs (Anti-rejection drugs, medicines, supplements, dressings, follow-up tests, medical bills, hospital fees)
- $5,000 – Cleaning & household help (12 weeks of weekly cleaning, meal prep, and general household support while she recovers.)
- $5,000 – Carer support for her child with autism to ensure they continue to get the care and support they need. (Respite care, therapy sessions, after-school or weekend help, transport to appointments.)
- $2,000 – Transport & hospital visits (Petrol, parking, possible short-term accommodation, taxi/ride-share if she cannot drive.)
- $5,000 – Living costs while she cannot work (Bills, groceries, and essentials for a few months to help ease the strain on the family during Liana's recovery until she is strong enough to resume normal life.)
