Lasting Empowerment for Teen Success (LETS) is a community organization in the process of applying for non-profit status. Our mission is to empower incarcerated youth through mentorship by providing creative outlets, fostering self worth and building support systems through advocacy. LETS is a volunteer-based organization that was founded in 2017 and mentors in the girls facility at the Gardner Betts Juvenile Detention Center. LETS fights to break social stigmas against incarcerated individuals and takes a radical approach to mentorship by fostering discussions on systemic oppression, community care, and restorative justice. LETS is in the midst of filing for non-profit status and hopes to expand the breadth of services offered to the youth after receiving sufficient funding.
To become a non-profit, we need to pay a state filing fee of $125 and a federal filing fee $600 (which does not include attorney fees or third-party filing fees). Additionally, we want to print t-shirts for our mentors to wear to Gardner Betts, so our youth can recognize us. With any remaining funds, we will print banners, stickers, and purchase supplies for our youth. We appreciate anything your support. Anything helps!
In Solidarity,
Lasting Empowerment for Teen Success
