My name is Lesli Stevens. I am a 60-year-old woman who has been with a disabled partner for the last 16 years. Those of you who know me know that I have always been able to take care of myself and my family, I have always supported my family and I have taxes and checking statements to prove that I have never used anyone for anything. I have always been able to contribute more than my fair share, and I was always proud of that. I WAS a proud person, and now I am begging.

All of the vehicles have gone down. My son-in-law and I are on the verge of losing our jobs because we only have two vehicles, and they are both broken. We are trying to get out of the house that my “partner” left to his daughter. She has been very, very patient and I hope she knows how much we appreciate that. I know she wants us out.  I understand that, but due to the fact I spent two months unemployed, May and June, because I was in the hospital, and during that time something happened to my Escape. It doesn’t start, and the Dodge is overheating really bad. I don’t have the money to take it to a garage. We don’t even have the money to rent a truck and get the rest of my stuff out of the house.

I am begging everybody, please open your hearts. Just a dollar or two. Anybody that knows me knows that it is killing me to have to beg, but I guess God works in mysterious ways because I’ve always been so proud. That pride is now costing me. I am giving up my pride so that my animals and my kids will be OK. Please, just a dollar or two. I’m not asking you to give hundreds of dollars; I’m just asking for a dollar or two.
