Help Lenore secure permanent housing!

Donation protected
Please help Lenore Black, a Portland resident of the past decade, secure permanent housing. We are raising $10,000 to cover Lenore’s relocation costs, legal fees to afford a housing attorney, medical fees, and funds to replace her property/belongings damaged by mold in her home. Please share widely within your networks.

Lenore was born in Kansas City, MO and proudly served her community as a Licensed Practical Nurse for several years. Because of her integrity and desire to see change,  she would continually speak out against resident abuse and neglect, causing her to lose her job and be blacklisted from several institutions. Her faith led her to move to Portland, Oregon in search of work and a better life, but unfortunately she continued struggling to find a safe home. After living on the streets, in hotels, and in and out of shelters, she secured housing at Rosenbaum Plaza. Lenore is also proud to be sober for the past 16 years and counting.

She has been an excellent tenant at Rosenbaum Plaza and continues her passion of serving others by being a homecare worker. Unfortunately, Lenore has been living in an apartment with a serious mold issue that has damaged her belongings, property, and health. Due to this mold issue, Lenore has developed respiratory issues, insomnia, headaches and muscular weakness, leading to a major surgery and temporary leave of absence from work. Lenore has not only reported this issue to her landlord but has also been organizing her neighbors to take care of their health and enforce their rights as renters. Lenore is a dedicated member of the Community Alliance of Tenants (CAT). Lenore tirelessly continues to advocate for herself and others and in her own words, “refuses to give up.” Please donate to her GoFundMe so that Lenore can secure permanent housing and continue fighting. These funds will go towards covering first and last month’s rent, replacing her damaged belongings (furniture, clothing, bed, etc.), paying medical and legal fees, and more.

This GoFundMe is organized on her behalf by her community and friends. Funds generated through this GoFundMe go directly to Lenore. Questions, inquires or comments are welcome - please click the 'Contact' button in the 'Organizer' section below.
