Hello! I'm Lena Buntemeyer, an incoming 11th grader at Bettendorf High School. I maintain a 4.0 GPA and am highly engaged in both the Speech & Debate Club and Key Club.
Over the weekend of June 6-8, I attended a Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership (HOBY) seminar at Drake University. HOBY hosts these leadership seminars and other leadership experiences for high school students around the world, empowering more than 10,000 students every year. At the seminar, I learned so much about volunteerism, integrity, excellence, diversity, and community partnership. I learned to think critically about issues facing my community and how to use service to become an active, effective citizen and leader.
After attending the HOBY leadership seminar, I knew I wanted to continue to grow as a leader by attending HOBY’s World Leadership Congress (WLC). The WLC is HOBY’s week-long international experience that connects leaders from all over the United States and more than a dozen other countries to develop global leadership skills and learn to tackle challenging issues using the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals as a framework.
Attending the WLC will be an outstanding opportunity for me and will help me make a positive impact in our community.
That’s why I’m asking for your help! The enrollment and program tuition for the WLC is $1,995/$300. To make that investment in my leadership development, I’m asking for local community members and business owners to support my fundraising goal. Your contribution will help me bring positive, meaningful change to our community through service. I am excited and passionate about this opportunity, and I am very grateful for your support.
You can learn more about HOBY’s programming by visiting www.HOBY.org.
Thank you in advance for your consideration and support!
Sincerely,
Lena Buntemeyer
