Bid a final farewell to Teresa Romero

Teresa Romero passed away at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Walla Walla on 13 November 2025 from heart complications she had been battling for two decades. Teresa was well respected in Dayton, Washington as a tenacious orchard worker. She was one of the first women to become a seasonal tree pruner at the Warren Orchard during the cold winters. For countless summers, she picked apples and pears at the Warren Orchard. During her time at the Warren Orchard, she outperformed her male coworkers.

Teresa did not lay down and submit to her heart condition that could have taken her before the age of 60. She also worked at J&J Snacks and the Wildhorse Casino. She was proactive, doing physical work and walking the perimeter of the Warren Orchard with her dogs.

While Teresa is known in the Dayton community, she also has friends and family in Walla Walla and Milton-Freewater.

Teresa is survived by friends and family including:

Eloy Garcia, husband, Warren Orchard Foreman;

Eloy Junior Garcia-Romero, son, WSU Student;

Michelle Garcia-Romero, daughter, UW Student;

Christian Garcia, son, Army Automatic Rifleman and Attorney;

George Romero, son, construction foreman;

Roberto Garcia, son, construction worker;

Francisco Garcia, son, Artist; and

Jose Garcia, son, entrepreneur.
