I’m Lauren Moore, a student currently at the University of Victoria in British Columbia. I grew up in the small community of Deep Cove in North Vancouver B.C. I went to Seycove Secondary. At this school, bi-annually there is a humanitarian trip to the Dominican Republic to build houses for families in Nueva Renacer.
I was lucky enough to have the chance to go on the trip as a student back in 2016, when I was in grade 11. Now I have the opportunity to go again, as an intern to join the group of students and teachers to experience this amazing journey all over again.
I have paid for my travel expenses with my earnings from my job at Starbucks but I need to raise $2500 for building materials.
The Dominican Republic is a beautiful place but many people struggle with poverty and often live on as little as $2/day. Our group partners with an amazing Canadian organisation, Live Different.
Our goal is to help bring hope to people with very little. Live Different partners with local tradespeople to build homes for people that are living in conditions that are very flimsy, easily damaged by storms and hurricanes.
Here's a picture of one of the houses we built on our last trip. Complete with our school logo.
If you donate to my cause you will be able to see your money at work. When we finish our trip I will post a picture of the house you helped build.
Canadian supporters will receive a tax receipt. Please share my link to your Facebook page, or share with your friends.
Please help me make a difference in the lives of people who have so little.
