ROOMI was born from Wade’s journey as a parent to his 20-year-old daughter with Down syndrome.
Like many families, we live in the space between love, support, and constant concern. When she was younger, the fear of her wandering off was always there. Even now, daily life still requires reminders, guidance, and close attention. We are working on real-life independence skills like routines, decision-making, and money management, and those moments can be hard to manage without the right tools.
One day, Wade saw his daughter interacting with a chatbot and realized something important: technology could do more than answer questions. It could become a steady, encouraging support system for people who need help building independence in everyday life.
That idea became ROOMI, which stands for Responsive Online Observation and Mentoring Interface.
ROOMI is being built to help people with intellectual and developmental disabilities move toward greater independence with more structure, encouragement, and support. The goal is to create a tool that can help with daily routines, reminders, decision support, and safer, more confident living while also giving families and caregivers more peace of mind.
This fundraiser will help us take ROOMI to the MVP stage, which means building the first working version of the platform, covering early development costs, and supporting the nonprofit setup needed to grow this into something that can help more families.
If this mission speaks to you, please donate and share this fundraiser. Your support helps us take a real family need and turn it into a practical tool that can make a lasting difference.
