Yesterday, I met an elderly man who changed my life. He was walking down the road in the Alabama heat with a walker and a prosthetic leg. As we talked, I learned he had walked nearly three miles just to buy a pair of shoes, only to find out the store didn't have what he needed. My heart broke for him. No one should have to struggle that hard just to meet basic needs. That experience inspired me to create Ride-Care, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing free transportation for seniors, veterans, people with disabilities, and anyone facing transportation challenges. Something as simple as a ride to a doctor's appointment, grocery store, job interview, or pharmacy can make a huge difference in someone's life.

Funds raised by Ride-Care will be used to establish and operate the nonprofit, including state incorporation fees, IRS 501(c)(3) filing costs, insurance coverage, accounting services, volunteer background checks, and the development of a website and ride scheduling system. Additional funding will support volunteer recruitment and training, fuel assistance, vehicle-related expenses, emergency transportation services, and community outreach efforts. By keeping administrative costs low and relying heavily on volunteers, Ride-Care will direct the majority of its funding toward providing free transportation for seniors, veterans, individuals with disabilities, low-income families, and others facing transportation challenges. Every dollar donated will help remove transportation barriers and connect community members with essential services, including medical appointments, employment opportunities, grocery stores, pharmacies, and other critical destinations.
