My name is Dena, and I’m the founder of Gresham Home Garden—a center dedicated to therapeutic horticulture. I’ve always dreamed of helping people heal through gardening, and now I’m working to make that dream a reality. Gresham Home Garden is currently incorporated, and my goal is to become a public foundation, co-op, or another 501(c)(3) organization within the next two years.
To truly serve my community, I need a reliable pickup truck. This vehicle will allow me to bring supplies and equipment to people and groups seeking recreational therapy through horticulture. I work with a wide range of people—children in schools, elders in retirement homes, individuals in churches, people with disabilities, those in inpatient facilities, women in prisons, youth in detention centers, and anyone who wants a garden or help in their garden. Having a truck means I can travel to all these places and bring the healing power of plants to more people. It will also help me transport materials for farmers markets and other events, making therapeutic gardening accessible to more people.
While I can’t bring a full garden to everyone, I want to offer other ways for people to experience the healing benefits of plants. This includes sharing dried flowers and seeds, providing small pots for those without access to outdoor space, and teaching container gardening and indoor gardening with lights. I also hope to help people make their own plant pots, learn about the healing properties of gardening, and create beautiful bouquets with dried and fresh flowers. I’m passionate about teaching people how to dry flowers, process dried herbs, and make things with dried herbs. Through these hands-on activities and workshops, I want to make therapeutic horticulture accessible to all.
