Hello, fellow Unconventional Conventionalists and lovers of all things rhinestoned and sequined!
We are reaching out to you with a dream as big as Tim Curry’s heels – the birth of a brand new Rocky Horror cast right here in the heart of New York City ✨
Picture this: Glittering costumes, electrifying performances, and a whole lot of pelvic thrusts – all under the dazzling lights of the Big Apple. We are a group of passionate Rocky Horror shadowcasters who want to keep this iconic and timeless experience going in the city that never sleeps. Under a new leadership team, our vision is to become a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization to keep Rocky Horror a transparent and healthy space where people from all walks of life can come together, embrace their quirks, and celebrate the joy of being whoever they want to be while imitating our favorite Transylvanians. In the meanwhile, we need your help to get shows up and running! Let's make the Time Warp not just a dance, but a safe and liberating experience for everyone!
What We Need
To launch this dream into reality, we're seeking your support to cover essential startup costs. Your generous contributions will go towards:
- Communal Costumes and Props: Every cast needs those expensive one-time purchases – Riff Raff’s and Magenta’s space suits, Eddie’s saxophone, folding chairs to be the car, tank, and throne - we will need all new pieces and storage & transportation between shows.
- Prop Bags: “Throw your toilet paper!!” Audience participation is an integral part of the Rocky Horror experience, and we would love to be able to provide tools to do so to our audiences.
- Promotion and Marketing: Getting the word out to all the Rocky Horror enthusiasts in the city! We want to fill our seats with eager, anticipating fans ready to do the Time Warp again and again.
- Rehearsal Spaces: Our city-sized living rooms are not equipped to hold rehearsals, so we need rehearsal spaces to make sure we are all jumping to the left and stepping to the right in sync!
- Venue Rentals: Securing fantastic movie theatres, bars, and traditional theatres to host our shows, complete with enough space to handle all of our dance moves and dramatic entrances.
- Lights and Sound Equipment: Shadowcasting is hard work and we want the whole audience to see all of our amazing costumes and makeup as we strut our stuff for you.
- Incidentals: We’d like to start up a cast fund of petty cash for things like last-minute makeup or underwear. We don’t want to be caught with our drawers down!
How You Can Help
- Fundraising: Every dollar brings us one step to the right closer to our dream. No amount is too small, and every contribution is greatly appreciated. You can see more specific details below on the big-ticket items. HEADS UP: We will personally thank people who donate $100+ on our Facebook and Instagram pages! (no raffles, sweepstakes, giveaways, or returns on investment are offered in exchange for any donations made to this GoFundMe)
- Attend Our Shows: We will be announcing our cast and our first show on our social media soon! Keep an eye out there and join us in-person for nights of thrills, chills, and absolute pleasures.
- Donate Items: Do you have a spare Space Suit lying around? Boas collecting dust? Corsets or fishnets going unused? Reach out - we can definitely give them a loving home (we can even talk about shipping costs if you’re not local)! Again, more details are below on the big-ticket items.
- Spread the Word: Share our GoFundMe page with your friends, family, and fellow Rocky Horror aficionados. The more people who know about our project, the easier time we will have establishing ourselves.
- Social Media: Follow us on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/doublefeatureprods/) and Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/doublefeaturenyc)
Goal: $7,000
- Total of [~$4,500 for the Big-Ticket Items] + [~$950 for the Wish Lists] = ~$5,400
- + ~$1,600 for incidentals, emergencies, rehearsal room rentals, promotions and marketing, and starting a cast fund.
