The ongoing genocide and displacement of the Rohingya community is horrific. Everyday it gets worse due to lack of attention and awareness. Their stories are not filling our newsfeeds, but the suffering is still very real.
Without adequate data, critical health issues go unseen, leaving countless lives at risk and needs unmet.
We aim to change that and we now have an opportunity to lay a foundation for lasting change.
We’re Pedro and Johanna, U.S. based co-founders of the Rohingya Aid & Empowerment Network (RAEN), along with Maung Hla Myint and his team, residents of Cox's Bazaar.
We’re raising $6,000 to launch a critical pilot phase of a mortality surveillance project in Bangladesh that will help us analyze causes of death in the world’s largest refugee camp.
This project, contingent upon funding, will help with identifying the underlying causes of mortality within the Rohingya community, with the- goal of not only raising awareness, but driving implementation of targeted interventions.
Every dollar we raise up to our $6K goal will be matched to help us reach the $12K needed to launch this project, but we need your help to get there.
This project will help us:
Collect reliable data that will strengthen advocacy with global health organizations like World Health Organization (WHO) and Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), enabling much-needed resources and funding to the Rohingya community.
Build community capacity by training local health workers with sustainable skills for long-term impact.
If successful, we have the opportunity to expand the program to reach even more people and accelerate much-needed resources.
Immediate needs remain critical, and we are here to meet them. But to create lasting change, we need data, training, partnerships – and your support.
As always, Pedro and I will cover any GoFundMe fees to make sure that every dollar you give goes directly to this project.
Please consider donating and sharing to help develop long-lasting solutions for communities that need it most.
