Imagine a place for real voices, real conversations, real connection.

Four years ago, I set out to build something the world doesn’t yet have — a true public town hall for live conversation.

For four years, I have been building Audio Campfires — this new social media platform — for people to meet and discuss world events in a live environment. With over 10 years of experience as a professor of mass communication, I have spent my career teaching how public conversation is shaped by technological change.

Now, it’s our turn to help bring this vision to life.

Audio Campfires has faced serious difficulties moving forward after funding and development support were promised but never materialized. After an anticipated funding round did not materialize, we are now turning directly to the community to complete final development.

A valuable idea is 3 months from launch and needs help to cross the finish line.

With sufficient funding, Audio Campfires can complete final development and move to launch within three months from March 2026. The goal is to raise $16,000, which will cover final development and allow the platform to launch.

Audio Campfires will be a modern voice environment where people can discuss world events at live digital campfires and offer an alternative to Twitter Spaces. Unlike existing platforms, Audio Campfires removes the need for a single “host” to control the room — allowing conversations to begin organically and mirror real life conversations around a campfire.

Two established creators have already committed to trying the environment - one of the fastest-growing independent podcasts, and a Thai influencer with a strong and engaged following. Both plan to host live conversations at Audio Campfires.

• A genuine alternative to platforms like Twitter Spaces

• A new kind of digital public square — shaped by the human voice, not algorithms
