Hi, my name is Helena Sugden. I’m a 17-year-old student from Melbourne with a deep belief that kindness should be intentionally cultivated, not left to chance.
We all begin life from different starting points. Some are born into privilege, others into hardship. Some are naturally gifted, while others face challenges beyond their control. It isn’t fair to judge people solely by outcomes when their beginnings were never equal.
But there is one thing that is within everyone’s reach, that is how we choose to treat others.
That belief inspired me to begin developing AITA Culture, a student-led initiative focused on recognising and rewarding positive behaviour from a young age. Instead of reacting to bullying and harmful behaviours after they happen, AITA Culture aims to proactively build empathy, accountability, and respect through a structured recognition system.
We believe that what we reward becomes what we value. When kindness, integrity, and inclusion are consistently acknowledged, they become visible standards, and over time, they shape habits, character, and culture. Attitude is a form of contribution. Empathy is a form of productivity. And positive behaviour deserves to be recognised.
To bring this vision to life, I have already created a YouTube channel where I have published eight introductory videos explaining the structure of AITA Culture and outlining several of our proposed programs. These videos represent the foundation of the initiative and demonstrate the practical framework behind the idea.
I am now seeking support to formally register AITA Culture as a non-profit organisation and begin running pilot programs. The funds raised will contribute toward:
• Legal registration and compliance costs
• Establishing the non-profit structure
• Program development and materials
• Website creation and digital promotion
• Community outreach and pilot implementation
As a student, I am deeply committed to building this initiative responsibly and sustainably, but I cannot do it alone. Your support will help transform this vision into a structured program that can positively impact schools and communities.
