Help Lashawn Edwards Secure Legal Aid for Parole

Hello, we are asking for help for Lashawn Edwards who has experienced a horrendous experience with the Tennessee Board of Parole and Tennessee Department of Corrections.

Mr. Edwards was given the opportunity to go before the parole board on 05/20/2024. He was granted parole, signed his parole certificate, the parole board came and viewed and approved the home and his release date was set for 06/20/2024. I spoke with him at 6 that morning and he was giving all of his belongings away to the less fortunate in the facility. At 9am (three hours before he was supposed to walk out the door) I received another call from him stating that he was not being released and at the time we had no clue why. I was able to connect with the director of sentence management Director Phillips and she stated that he received the pre trial jail credits at first and then the morning of his release they took them off his sentence without an explanation. Unfortunately, the tragic catastrophe that happened in June 2024 has been very hard for our family but has continued.

He continue to stay out of trouble in prison and in October 2024 he went up for parole again and receiving a continuum and the board stated that he would go before the board again in February and the Parole board stated to him they wanted to give him parole but they wanted his safety valve date to be closer. In February he never received the chance to go before the board. Now that his safety valve date is closer he received a date to go in front of the parole board. Goes in front of the board on August 13, 2025 he was granted parole again and receive confirmation that he has been granted parole again. While the date is closer to his safety valve, I reached out to time management and community supervision as directed and it was explained to me that his release eligibility date was chosen as the date of release which is in 2027. He has stayed out trouble, despite this horrendous parole experience and was told that he received a continuum so that his date was closer to his safety valve just for him to be granted parole but given a release date for 2027.

Even though this situation was mentally tough for him as well as the entire family but he has continued to stay focus and has not been in any trouble. He has continued to go to work and is still ready to come home and live as a productive citizen of society.

Currently he has time missing that could help bring him home. A lawyer was contacted an MRI. Kenneth Parnell out of McEwen said he would be willing to get this matter resolved for $2000 dollars. Lashawn is trying to become a better person and has shown that to be granted parole twice and has continued to stay out of trouble. He is asking for some help getting this lawyer. Let's come together and help get him home. Thank you for your time and may God bless you all for your time and prayers.
