Two hardworking people came to America legally to build a better life. Now they are separated, and one of them has been in ICE detention for more than a month. They urgently need our help.

In 2023, Lasha and his wife Olena came to the United States legally with a simple dream: to work hard, build a life together, and pursue the American dream.

They did things the right way. They worked through the immigration process, got their paperwork in order, and waited until they had the proper documentation before beginning to work. They obtained work authorization that is currently valid through the end of 2029.

They became long-haul freight truck drivers, working hard and traveling across this incredible country they were so excited to call home. Their truck gave them the opportunity to see America while earning an honest living and building their future together.

Then, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, their lives were turned upside down.

Olena and Lasha were detained by ICE.

Olena spent approximately two weeks in detention before being released and sent back to their home in Brooklyn, where she is now under house arrest.

Lasha has now been in ICE detention for more than a month.

They are facing a complicated immigration case and are desperately trying to find experienced legal representation. They have contacted organizations and sought help navigating the system, but finding the right legal support has been incredibly difficult—and the costs are far beyond what they can afford on their own.
