Hi friends and new friends,
For those of you who know my Dad, Larry, you know he is an amazingly loving and passionate man. Over the last couple of years, he has fallen on hard times. He is an OG of the Oak Cliff neighborhood in Dallas, TX, and we would love to make sure he is able to keep his home.
I’m Samantha, his only daughter, and I unfortunately do not have the means currently to give our family home the cleanup and care it needs to be inhabitable again. Our goal is to clean up the house and renovate it. It is also my goal to move into his house with him so I can be close and continue his care. The house is not currently inhabitable and is unfortunately not safe for him any longer.
My Dad moved in with me a few months ago due to chronic health conditions and was recently diagnosed with cancer. After his hospitalization at Parkland, he was moved to Forest Park skilled nursing and rehab facility. He has undergone surgery to remove the cancer and has now returned to Forest Park to continue his physical and occupational training and rehab. He’s on the road to recovery, but it is a marathon, not a sprint.
My Dad is 74, retired, and is on a fixed income, which has limited his ability to take care of the upkeep needed for his house. My Dad is also a collector of all things, so the house is full to the brim.
I have received several quotes from basic cleanup to a complete overhaul. The cost is not something we can shoulder between the two of us, which is why I am reaching out for help.
Any contribution is greatly appreciated and will go towards getting my Dad back home and to his happy place once more.
Here is a high level of what your contribution will go towards:
Turn power back on
Remove a large percentage of the items
Biohazard cleanup
Plumbing repairs
Structural repairs
Thank you all so much in advance for your love and generosity!
