My name is Lake Mastny, and I am a Life Scout in Highland’s Troop 70. I have been an active member and leader of my troop for over seven years, and Scouting has been a huge part of my life. As I work toward achieving the rank of Eagle Scout, I am excited to take on a project that gives back to the community that has supported me for so long.
For my Eagle Scout project, I have proposed installing three benches along a high-traffic area of the rail trail, right behind the apartments at 128 Vineyard Ave and next to the bridge over Vineyard Ave. This area is used by many people but currently lacks seating. As someone who uses the rail trail often, I know how valuable a place to rest can be, and I want to help make this space even better for everyone. I have already presented my project to the town board and received approval from the board, the Scouting of America Twin Rivers Council, and the Hudson Valley Rail Trail. With the help of volunteer scouts from my troop and Dillon from Custom Concrete, we have already installed three concrete pads at the site for the benches.
Now, I am reaching out to the Highland community to help fundraise for the purchase of the three park benches needed to complete this project. If you are unable to donate, I would greatly appreciate it if you could spread the word about my fundraiser or attend some of my fundraising events. Any contribution, big or small, will make a huge difference. Thank you so much for your support!
Update! We've stripped the forms, filled in the dirt around concrete pads are ready to install the new benches when fundraising is complete.
