Hi, my name is Emily. Back in the summer I was lucky enough to visit Sri Lanka. We had booked a driver for the 18 days and after spending such a lot of time together, we stayed in touch and have become good friends. Sadly, due to the affects of Cyclone Ditwah, Lahiru has largely lost his family home along with many of his neighbours’ homes. Please see the photos attached. The Sri Lankan Government will be helping local people financially, but this may take some time. Lahiru is such a lovely and genuine man. He has parents and a young baby that rely upon him. He is the first person to help others in need and so I would like to raise £1000 that will be given to him directly to help him and his neighbours with any every day living and/or rebuilding costs as he sees fit until his home is rebuilt. Due to him being in Sri Lanka, any funds raised will have to be transferred to me which I will then send directly to him via Western Union.

I really am grateful for anything you are happy to donate. I appreciate that times are tough and Christmas is approaching. I couldn’t sit by and not do anything for this lovely man and his family.
