Help LagosdelNorde get his or her pans back
Donation protected
If you read the Reddit, you already know. Here's the story, copied and pasted:
A fellow r/CastIron subredditor, LagosdelNorte posted pictures of his experience a couple days ago trying to figure out what happened to his two #3 pans, a Griswold SBL and stylized logo Wagner when he dropped them in lye and went out of town for a few days, returning to their deterioration (see video slideshow). He realized after a day, that he had made a vinegar bath after the lye bath and that he had in fact put the pans in THAT instead!
What you see in the video and pictures at the end, the clean looking, restored pans, are part of my inventory as a reseller. The Wagner is up on eBay currently for $45+ shipping, the SBL would post at $70+. I'd like to raise $100 for these send send them to LagosdelNorte.
I'll be honest, my cost on the two of these is close to $50, that's raw money, not counting gas etc. One of them was an hour away, the other was in Tennessee, and yes, I drove there from Texas (not just for the one.) I also stripped and restored both of these. After 15 or 20 in shipping (I don't know where he/she/they lives) and whatever overhead, I'm making a small profit, and if this only gets up to 80 or 90, I'll end it and make up the difference. I'm just trying to do something nice here.
I'd actually like to ask people to limit yourselves to 5 or 10 bucks maximum and show what the power of a large number of small donations can do. All we need is 100 people giving 1 dollar and we're done. And these posts get viewed thousands of times in a day. The poor guy (or gal or whatever) made a mistake. Let's get their pans back! COME ON!
(Sorry, it's a groove handle instead of a teardrop on the SBL.)
