Hello friends and family and wonderful people of the internet. We have created this “go fund me” to help Ksenia continue to be able to join all of us as we do daily task and our family outings.

Ksenia loves to travel. Seeing new things and joining her siblings at new places and adventures is one of her favourite things to do.

She also loves a challenge! She excels at climbing out of most restraint systems. Currently she is even able to escape her standard child’s 5-point car seat. We frequently have to stop and pull over to resecure her safety before we can continue to drive. She is not able to recognise the danger to herself and simply enjoys the hard work to escape. She is about to outgrow her current car seat and standard seats will no longer be the appropriate size or able to handle her increasing skill for escaping. She now requires a specialized seat for both her age/size but also for her diagnosis (Angelman Syndrome) and behaviour.

Unfortunately, our insurance provider has said they do not cover such needs. Despite multiple attempts to make them understand this as a medically required special equipment they claim there is no category to put this purchase under and therefore will not provide any financial help towards it.

The cost of the special seat is over $2271. Given the specific nature of the seat there is no option for us to shop around and find a competitive price, this is the only one and this is the price they charge. As a family much of our budget goes towards her many special needs supplies and a large lump sum payment like this is a challenge for us.

We are turning to our community to ask for help covering the cost of this equipment so we can continue to travel safely to appointments and make memories as a family. Ksenia would tell you she loves to keep up with her big brother and sister and can’t wait for more fun times out of the house and out around people and the world.
