Help Kristina and 4 Kids Get Housing

In the blink of an eye everything in my life has changed. I went from having financial struggles, yet making ends meet with my husband and four children, along with our five dogs to losing everything.

On July 26th my brother, my only sibling, took his own life in a tragic way. Since then I have been in a fog, lost and trying to mentally stay stable enough to take care of my children. On August 3rd my husband and I went to eviction court over some late fees that weren't completely covered that rolled for months without being mentioned by the homeowner. We learned the day he filed with the courts, never mentioning it back in April when I thought we had paid the entirety of late fees, unfortunately, missing only $40 of that. The judge ruled in favor of the homeowner and gave us only 5 days notice to get out of the house. 5 days is not enough time to try to coordinate a move with low funds while utilizing the help of your parents who are trying to grieve losing a child. My parents have always done what they could yet this is one that was truly harder for them to try to do as they were already trying to come up with the funds to give my brother a proper funeral.

During this time, my husband gave up and jumped in the car, our only vehicle, and went to California 2 days before our children started school. My husband decided to turn his back on us in time of need, leaving just my father and myself to try and move the last of what we could. Lots of heartache, lots of body aches and lots of mental breakdown. My father now has a hernia because we both only had each other to do what we could do in the last 24 hours. Now I sit here while my parents try to deplete any last avenue they may have as a financial end to make sure that their grandkids have a roof over their head. I sit here and I scramble in frantic mode trying to figure out where we might sleep tomorrow and the days after.

I live in Georgetown Texas, there's no bus system here. It's pretty spread out here, so as far as keeping the kids in the same school so they don't feel like they've lost everything is a challenge with no vehicle. I never thought I would have to but I had to fill out a homeless form for my children at the schools.. their extracurriculars and friends are all they really have to look forward to right now. I'm really trying not to take much more from them, as everything changed for them in a blink of an eye. I try my absolute best. They are kids, they are innocent, this isn't their fault. So here I am today trying to figure out what the next move will be, utilizing every resource I possibly can, yet constantly being pushed back from details such as transportation and permanent housing.
